To protect the tourbillon from shocks, Richard Mille designed a movement that is suspended in a fixed cable system. The special construction of this design requires the movement to be mounted on two plates.
The crown has a torque limiter, an additional protection system to prevent over-winding, which could damage the barrel. The complete case construction is water-resistant to 50m thanks to two Nitrile rubber gaskets, and is assembled using 20 screws to secure the grade 5 titanium and 316L stainless steel bezel.
